Not allergic!

I just got back from a visit to the allergist where they tested me for allergies to cats, dogs, feathers, molds, trees, grasses, and weeds, and I'm not allergic to any of them. Yay!

I apparently have what's called -- as you might expect -- "non-allergic rhinitis". Which means that there are no allergic reactions or histamines involved -- I have hypersensitive nasal nerves that overreact to irritants; essentially, I react to itchy stuff in my nose like I've been pepper-sprayed.

I now have a prescription for a nasal spray that, while technically an antihistamine, is effective for 80%+ of people with non-allergic rhinitis by blocking or damping the overreaction.

Yay!

Creativity

I've been in sewing/design recovery for a little over a year now, having done two Gothique shows back to back, followed closely by my wedding, with the occasional Halloween or Norwescon thrown in there.

But going to the Cirque du Noc fashion show last weekend apparently unlocked something in my brain -- I lay awake for hours Monday night thinking furiously of nifty designs I could do for next year's show, as well as stuff I've been wanting to do for me and Jen.

Of course, I'll have to clean out the office to make room (argh), and organize all my sewing/latex stuff (ick!) first, and then resupply (all my good sewing shears have disappeared, all my cutter wheels are dull, etc.). But it's good to feel creative again.

I have a weird intuition that Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" would make a good mashup with Duran Duran's "Girls on Film".
